    Key Duties/Responsibilities

    Position Title:  Data Engineer

     

    Location: Houston, Texas

     

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Data Engineer, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Data Engineering & Analytics team at the company’s Houston, office reporting to the Director, Data Engineering & Analytics.

     

    This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

    • Working knowledge of Oil and Gas business processes.
    • Customer-service orientation, with focus on clarity of requirements, management of expectations, and successful delivery of quality work products.
    • Work with engineers, geoscientists and management to frame open ended problems in terms of deliverables that can be generated using data science techniques.
    • Work with subject matter experts to evaluate multiple internal and external datasets for applicability and usefulness in achieving model objectives.
    • Work with management and user community to scope and prioritize project efforts using risk vs value criteria.
    • Explore and examine data from a variety of angles using appropriate profiling techniques to understand the data and determine hidden weaknesses, trends, and/or opportunities.
    • Employ appropriate visual, machine learning, and statistical methods to prepare data for use in predictive and prescriptive modeling.
    • Create data driven solutions that provide structure, assist in the decision making process, and facilitate automation.
    • Effectively communicate recommendations to stakeholders and management.

    Job Qualifications

     

    Professional Qualifications & Experience:

    The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

    • Degree in a Technology-related field, or a prominent field in the Oil & Gas ecosystem (i.e., Geosciences, Geography, or an applicable Engineering discipline).
    • 2-5 years work experience.
    • Consistent experience working in development project teams, and in support of customer data requirements.
    • Multiple years experience querying and analyzing data sources across platforms, including relational databases, COTS application systems, and unstructured data sources.
    • Applied experience with development of analytics tools, using technologies such as SQL, Python, R, and other data-stack languages.
    • Applied experience with use of business intelligence and visualization tools, such as TIBCO Spotfire and Microsoft PowerBI.
