    Key Duties/Responsibilities

    The Compressor Station Operator for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s NAUR Pipeline Operations Group at the company’s Pecos, TX office reporting to the Pipeline Operations Field Superintendent.

    Apache Corporation is currently seeking a Compressor Station Operator at their field office in Pecos, TX.

    • Performs tasks required for efficient operation of all functions in a natural gas compressor station including engine/compressor operations and maintenance, auxiliary equipment and machinery, storage tanks and pumps, and other plant systems and equipment.
    • Responsible for ensuring proper flows, pressures, temperatures, and levels for all station systems, and recognizes operating deviations and takes appropriate corrective action and record readings such as pressures, temperatures, volumes, run hours, etc.
    • Responsible for recording operating parameter values, completion of operating reports, notification of environmental deviations, and performing equipment lockout/tag-out for maintenance and repair. Including, maintain all station primary auxiliary equipment (check and adjust water and oil levels, temperatures, pressures, etc.
    • Perform tasks such as blowing drips, emptying tanks, refilling fluids, checking tank levels and managing waste fluids, etc.
    • Recognizes equipment abnormalities and records and communicate needed repairs with maintenance. As well as, assisting in repairing engines, air compressors, generators, dehydration equipment, condensate stabilizers, etc.
    • Keep tools and equipment in safe, orderly and proper working condition and maintain safe operating environment
    • Operate computerized station controls and change pressures and route gas, prepare written reports, regulate and report pressures, and calculate and report volumes
    • Analyze engines for optimum performance and optimize for fuel and cost efficiency while providing flow assurance and meeting emissions criteria
    • Coordinate air program requirements with HSE team, including scheduling/conducting emissions testing
    • Stay up-to-date of manufacturer’s recommendations/improvements for preventative maintenance and for any upgrades, and ensure timely completion as appropriate
    • Ensure engine oil samples are pulled, analyzed, and acted upon accordingly
    • Coordinate inventory of spare and critical parts
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in rotating equipment maintenance.
    • Good communicator, work planner with excellent work ethics and a good background in computer applications.
    • Perform other duties as directed.

    Job Qualifications

    The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience.

    Essential Requirements:

    An associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical technology is preferred

    High School diploma or GED 

    Good mechanical aptitude 

    Basic computer skills 

    Effective written & verbal communications 

    Ability to read, comprehend, and apply information from operating procedures and manuals 

    Physical capabilities of standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching over shoulder height, lifting of loads weighting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally working in inclement weather conditions 

     

    Preferred Skills:

    4 years’ general experience in the oil/gas industry. 

    2 years’ operating experience in the oil/gas industry. 

    Experience in operating process equipment and controls. 

    Experience working with pressure vessels and equipment. 

    Ability to work with minimal supervision. 


    Special Characteristics/Job Requirements:
    Must be safety oriented and able to work in a team environment. 

    The job may require occasional unscheduled call-outs and extended workdays and/or workweeks. Employees are required to live within a reasonable distance of their reporting location 

    Position is subject to applicable U.S. Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol regulations. 

    Some travel for temporary assignments, meetings and training may be required. 

    Must have valid driver’s license. 

    Must have a safe driving record.
