    Key Duties/Responsibilities

    Position Title: Governmental Affairs Representative

     

    Location: Houston, Texas

     

    Specific Responsibilities:

    The Governmental Affairs Representative will be a member of Apache’s Governmental Affairs team at the company’s Houston, Texas headquarters reporting to the Manager of Governmental Affairs. 

     

    • Responsibilities include: Monitor and review proposed legislation and regulations, and assess their potential impact on the company in coordination with internal clients;
    • Develop appropriate positions and responses in conjunction with their client regions and with other affected departments within the company;
    • Work with trade associations and working groups on issue-specific efforts, and work with the state legislature, the US Congress and the regulatory agencies to ensure that legislation, rules and regulations serve the best interests of the company.
    • Responsible for all industry and trade association relations both at the state and federal level, with the expectation to assume leadership positions on committees, task forces and other issue-specific occasions within the group;
    • Advocate for company positions, lead coalitions of like-minded companies in the industry to support or oppose legislation and proposed new rules and regulations, as required;
    • Responsible for preparing reports and conducting briefings for all levels of Apache senior management;
    • Serve as the public and political face for Apache Corporation on legislative and regulatory matters including making presentations, participating in news conferences, public hearings on issues, conferences and seminars; and
    • Participate in meetings, deliberations and recommendations of ApachePAC; and attend political fundraisers as necessary.

    Job Qualifications

    Professional Qualifications & Experience:

    The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

    • Must have experience in state or federal government;
    • Prefer individual with 5 or more years of experience in government affairs; and
    • Must possess degree in law, political science, business or engineering related to Oil and Gas industry. Advanced degrees preferred.
