Position Title: Automation Specialist
Location: San Antonio, TX
The Automation Specialist, for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Alpine Midstream Maintenance team at the company’s San Antonio office reporting to the Midstream Compression, Maint & I&E Manager.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
The primary responsibility of the Automation and Controls Supervisor/Manager is to improve system productivity, performance, reliability, safety, and stability by assisting in the design, construction and maintenance of automation systems. The Automation and Controls Supervisor/Manager will also assist in the technical design and management of projects from conception through completion. Also, responsible for performing analysis on equipment failures and recommending corrective actions on automation and associate equipment. Job duties include but are not limited to:
•Remotely supervise or support the work of automation foremen and techs, including training and assistance with adding resources, as required;
•Review automation, control and electrical designs;
•Design and specify PLC or RTU control panels;
•Develop budgets, plans, strategies and goals;
•Provide supervision and direction for the safe, effective and efficient remote operations monitoring and control of Company’s assets;
•Must ensure compliance with all EH&S guidelines.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related job experience required;
•10-15 years industry experience required;
•Must have experience of automation used to control and monitor processes in the upstream or midstream oil and gas industry;
•Must have broad based, hands on knowledge and experience with various types of automation systems, equipment and associated software;
•Have the ability to troubleshoot systems and devices;
•Have knowledge of applicable electrical industry standards and recommended practices, e.g. NEC, NFPA, ISA, etc.;
•Have the ability to interpret control and P & ID drawings and review associated scope of work needed to specify and complete associated projects;
•Proficient in Microsoft Office, Access and Power Point;
•Have a strong familiarity with PLC, RTU and HMI programing;
•A broad knowledge in Automation and Controls Engineering practices and procedures;
•Excellent communicator and team building skills.
