    Key Duties/Responsibilities

    The Mechanic III for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Alpine Midstream Maintenance at the company’s Pecos, TX office reporting to the Compressor Supervisor.


    This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

    • Must be able to perform duties involving the operation, troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair of natural gas engines, compressors, generators and other power driven equipment.
    • Overhaul, repair and adjust engines, compressors, pumps, motors.
    • Maintenance and repair of various natural gas processing equipment.
    • Perform preventative maintenance on various natural gas processing equipment including compressors, pumps, and other rotating and static equipment. 
    • Must have a detailed knowledge of various natural gas processing equipment.
    • Maintain records of maintenance in a computer based maintenance system.
    • Perform daily maintenance as needed on engines, compressors, processing equipment, company vehicle and shop.

    Job Qualifications

    The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

    • Previous Work Experience - 2 years or more.
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
    • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background investigation. 
    • Proven experience with Caterpillar, Waukesha and White Superior engines, Ariel and Superior compressors is a plus.
    • Proven experience with various pumps, fans and motor repairs Including repair, alignment and replacement.
    • Ability to assume & perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
    • Work well with others and also be able to perform work independently.
    • Demonstrate sound judgment.
    • Make decisions and corrections when problems are detected.
    • Have knowledge of safety rules and practices and a very good safety record.
    • Demonstrate a history and willingness to work safely within PSM compliant facilities.
    • Be able to read, understand, and apply equipment repair manuals, Apache procedures and any applicable standards.

    Essential Skills:

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
    • Dynamic, fast-paced, demanding environment.
    • Work outside in all types of inclement weather.
    • Must have a good driving record.
    • Physical capabilities of: standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching over shoulder height, frequent heavy lifting
    • Able to support existing on call schedule, some overtime is required.
    • Must be team oriented, self-motivated with a strong commitment to safety, operational, and environmental policies.

    Preferred Skills:

    • At least five years of practical, mechanical experience working on rotating equipment.
    • Previous midstream operations/maintenance experience.
