    Key Duties/Responsibilities

    The Security Specialist under the direction of the Security Manager performs a variety of security, safety, customer services, public relations duties, and related functions specific to the job. The Security Specialist provides first line response to emergencies and carries out the policies and procedures and observes and reports security issues and safety concerns as prescribed in post manuals.

     

    KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conducts security risk assessments and provides direction in identifying, developing, implementing and maintaining security processes across all operating units to reduce risk, and limit exposure to liability in all areas of physical, and personnel risks.
    • Develop and maintain HSSE Operational Asset Risk Register for physical security.
    • Conduct security risk audits in the region to ensure compliance with security standards and local regulations.
    • Researches and identifies significant security risks, designs and implements strategies and programs to reduce loss of the organization’s assets.
    • Development and maintenance of security programs, policies, instructions and guidelines for the protection of physical assets
    • Interacts with management in the region on security issues, trends, current security threat assessments and protective measures.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with law enforcement counterparts including in-country and international security agencies, intelligence and private sector counterparts.
    • Support management in handling of security incident/crisis responses.

    Job Qualifications

    KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent of five (5) years’ work experience in a related field.

    EXPERIENCE:       

    • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in any combination of the following:
      • Law Enforcement
      • Investigative field and/or
      • Physical Security
    • Crisis management / emergency response experience preferred.
    • Previously held a similar position. Oil industry experience would be an advantage.

     

    PRIMARY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES (TECHNICAL & LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES):

    • Communicate effectively, including a high standard of report writing.
    • Has comprehensive knowledge and understanding of people/asset protection and crisis management programs and the application of risk management principles.
    • Maintains and applies knowledge of security programs, policies and practices to resolve issues.
    • Ability to travel and operate effectively within the U.S.
    • Understanding of security risk management methodology, industry standards, and best practices.
    • Understanding of physical protective security and technical countermeasures.
