The automation technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all areas of automation systems and related duties. The automation technician uses extensive knowledge of DC electronics associated with oil and gas production facilities. Job duties include but are not limited to:
•Maintenance and installation of RTUs including critical and non-critical alarms;
•Oversight of contractors to ensure proper wiring and installation of automation systems;
•Maintenance of data telemetry systems including master radios and review telemetry statistics for each RTU maintaining a minimum 90% success rate;
•Maintenance and replacement of end devices;
•Programming of PLCs and displays;
•Maintenance of automation-related and non-automation related computer hardware;
•Review and evaluate automation-related invoices and process according to corporate policy;
•Advise the organization of potential automation solutions for recognized production needs;
•Direct contractor activities to maintain an efficient use of materials and labor;
•Ensure that data is current on host systems with current field wiring and monitoring.
•High school diploma or GED required;
•Knowledge of programming languages a plus;
•Experience with SCADA (specifically Cygnet) and DCS;
•Maintain a consistent work ethic;
•Must be flexible with job duties, and willing to adapt to changes;
•Self-starter and aggressive approach;
•Generate new ideas and proposals. Be aware of what is going on in your area of responsibility;
•Vast knowledge in networking/communications; TCP/IP, wireless, licensed and non-licensed radios.
