    Production Efficiency Improvement Project
    Production Efficiency Manager Justification

Lead a focused effort to bring Apache into the premier ranks from the production operations and engineering perspectives.  This initiative has significant potential impact on company performance metrics.  Reducing both base decline and downtime by 1% equates to increased delivery of 6,000 boepd ($75MM annually) for NAM regions.  The initiative will also result in reduced lifting costs as more contemporary tools and work processes are employed resulting in more effective use of our field personnel.

    Key Duties/Responsibilities

Key requirements for the production manager include intimate knowledge of Apache systems and work processes, discipline expertise and earned respect from field and office organizations.  The role will integrate with office and field based regional personnel and leadership, IT, SMEs, and outside technology providers.  The role would report to me with an expected duration of one to two years.

Multiple subprojects that are jointly developed with regions are required.  Separate region led projects of similar scope result in significant inefficiencies and would be unworkable given limited IT resources.

Many projects are in the pipeline and a few are already in development to move our 1980s field operations into the future.  A successful approach will take advantage of all available data to deliver the following:

    • Well lift performance assessment and optimization
    • Field personnel assets focused on highest value work
    • Prioritized workover operations
    • Optimized field operations
    • Enhanced collaboration between office and field

    Job Qualifications

Some aspects of the initiative follow:

    • Operating by exception
    • Field operating / decision support centers (prioritizing pumper activities and well work)
    • Advanced automation in high capital spend areas
    • Right-sized automation / data delivery for legacy areas
    • Fully developed data visualization and analytics tools
    • Full scale deployment of OSI Pi
    • Engineering workflows / tools
    • Model based decision making
    • Artificial lift optimization (gas lift, plunger lift, ESPs and rod pumps)
    • Improvement in failure analysis
    • Existing systems
    • Avocet data standardization and quality assurance
    • Wellview quality assurance
    • Additional projects
    • Capture, publishing and sharing best practices for field operations
    • Asset management tool evaluation
