Key Duties/Responsibilities

The individual will perform all I&E duties as experience permits. The primary duties will include providing I&E support to all departments with day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting. This position will be on an on-call rotation if necessary. Further, the job may require the following tasks:

  • Comply with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations, and safety policies and procedures
  • Performing installation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Performing and providing technical support for installation, calibration, maintenance, and repairs of instrument and electrical equipment
  • Performing planned maintenance checks and calibrations on a semi-annual schedule
  • Maintaining current and accurate documentation of maintenance activities
  • Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative and predictive maintenance
  • Initiating Management of Change requests for proposed changes to equipment, instrumentation and programs
  • Pursuing cost reduction opportunities
  • Be on call, responding to emergencies and maintain emergency response preparedness
  • Driving teamwork throughout the area of responsibility
  • Active involvement in Safety Action Plans
  • Experience with low and medium voltage circuits
  • PLC programming experience
  • Experience with Allen Bradley products, (i.e., PLC's, HMI's, drives, etc)
  • Proficient (perform with limited assistance) with Microsoft Access, PowerPoint
  • Proficient computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Windows and Microsoft office products
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Comply with all EH&S guidelines
  • Reporting any unsafe condition or situation that would compromise the integrity of any Tall Oak equipment or locations
  • Maintaining clean and safe working environment, housekeeping duties for company facilities as required
  • Making any or all repairs as deemed reasonable and safe
  • Operating a company vehicle
  • Maintaining the company vehicle and equipment at all times to ensure safety to him and the equipment that he will operate
  • Order equipment as needed
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings (i.e., P&ID's, C&E's, 1 lines)
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments
  • Actively communicates and takes time to safely perform work to protect our people and environment
  • Any additional tasks that may be assigned
  • Performs regularly scheduled inspections of the electrical and controls systems to assure proper, safe and compliant operation of the plant and pipeline facilities. Also, identifies and detects any malfunctions/failures of the equipment and takes corrective action to repair
  • Maintains and records the operating status and maintenance records of the plant equipment
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all control and electrical equipment (e.g. electronics, high voltage equipment, pneumatic and mechanical)
  • Performs other activities as required by Operations Management
  • Successfully complete OQ training on covered tasked performed
  • Performs all duties in accordance with safety policies and industry best practice

Job Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in the areas of operations & maintenance of electrical and controls systems.

  • Good communicator, work planner with excellent work ethics and a good background in computer applications.

  • Must be available for call-outs 24 hours/day, 7 days a week.

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Electrical/Controls (I&E) technology is preferred or degree in a related field.

  • The candidate must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Company's vehicle insurance policy as well as pass a pre-employment drug screen.

  • The employee will also be subject to drug testing in accordance to the Company’s policies and procedures.

  • The employee must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
