Key Duties/Responsibilities


The ESP Workover Foreman is required to oversee all facets of Electrical Submersible Equipment including planning, supervision, and input on design, cost control, and project scheduling along with Production Engineering and Operational personnel. This position must coordinate in cooperation with production engineers, operations personnel and HSE for effective and efficient work environment.   The foreman is also responsible and accountable for the work site for all company and contract personnel.



  • Must possess knowledge of ESP surface equipment to diagnose problems and provide recommendations for equipment type and design considerations.
  • Be familiar with design and operation of ESP equipment and assist other personnel in problem solving with down hole operating conditions.
  • Be familiar with electrical equipment to help check possible downhole problems and surface equipment issues.
  • Identify and eliminate repetitive tasks and procedures that can be simplified or delegated
  • Be familiar with applicable industry construction standards such as API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, OSHA, etc.
  • Experience with all ESP vendor style of equipment and the understanding of each component.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and take appropriate corrective action when warranted.
  • Assist operations personnel with troubleshooting and proper operation of ESP wells at the wellsite or over the phone.
  • Communicate with appropriate Apache personnel and contractors as needed for efficient execution of ESP wells.
  • Identify top performing contractors in terms of cost, job performance, and reliability
  • Direct contractors activities to ensure the most efficient use of labor and materials while on an ESP well location.
  • Be familiar with Apache Supervisor’s Safety and Health Compliance and State Environmental Compliance Manuals and ensure that these policies are followed on each job
  • Participate in industry functions and portray a positive image for Apache
  • Safeguard all company assets
  • Be familiar with Apache Standard Operating Procedures when it comes to the installation and pull of all ESP wells.
  • Review all repair procedures and methods to insure that safety hazards and environmental impact(s) are minimized
  • Be familiar with ESP vendor’s design and application software to be able to review the correct design for each application.
  • Be familiar with all ESP vendor’s Variable Speed Drives and the software and programs to be able to troubleshoot well condition problems.
  • Experience with ESP wellsite setup’s for proper wiring of pole mount transformers along with the proper grounding set up for all surface equipment and wellheads.
  • Be familiar with all styles of wellhead configurations for ESP wells.
  • Experience with dismantle procedures to determine root cause of failure for failed equipment.

Job Qualifications


  • High School diploma or equivalent required



  • 10+ years of related experience required.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent communication and grammar skills, exhibited both in conversation and written materials
