Apache Corporation is seeking a senior petrophysicists with 20+ years of experience. The successful candidate will be expected to perform reservoir description and characterization studies, engage with the geophysical community in the practice of rock physics, engage the engineering community in the practice of mechanical rock properties, assist with all aspects of petrophysical operations, and train and mentor other technical staff. Although this position will be US-based, it is expected that the successful candidate will travel to all Apache regions to provide petrophysics and rock physics support.
The successful candidate will support exploration and production projects throughout the company via the integration of multidisciplinary datasets. These datasets include, but are not limited to, open- and cased-hole logs, core data, production log data, fluid and pressure data, and geological and geophysical data. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of rock physics theory and extensive experience with its application. Additional required skills include the ability to design, manage, and evaluate mudlogs, LWD logs, wireline logs and core data acquisition programs. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of production surveillance methods (e.g., PTA, RTA, and production logging), and formation testing and fluid sample acquisition. The candidate will participate in multidisciplinary project teams and help present defendable business recommendations to region and corporate management. The successful candidate should be capable of spending time in other Apache regions to build trust and identify key projects that need technical leadership from EPT.
Minimum of a BSc. in Geology, Geophysics, or Engineering, or related experience required; MSc. preferred.
The successful candidate should have 20+ years petroleum industry experience working as a petrophysicist and rock physics expert. Domestic and international experience is necessary. We will consider candidates with less experience, depending on their background, interest in learning new aspects of petrophysics, and their willingness to relocate to other locations.
