Key Duties/Responsibilities

This position is responsible for all aspects of data-related problem solving involving all major data types used in exploitation. Ability to apply basic knowledge of petrophysics/geology/geophysics related techniques and customary software to aid the petrophysics staff in their search for hydrocarbon prospects. Performs routine aspects of basic petrophysics related assignments requiring standard techniques and programs. Works under close supervision. The role requires interaction with Geology, Geophysics, Drilling, and Completions personnel.

 

Position Duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Perform petrophysical, geologic and limited engineering technical support on multiple projects across the Permian Region.
  • Preprocessing of raw log data, including quality control, editing and repairing such data;
  • Preprocessing of raw core / lab data, including quality control, and loading into software;
  • Data mining for appropriate files suitable for processing and loading in Petrophysical software;
  • Deliver quality products that assist the team in developing a detailed picture supported by data and to align the various stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests from multiple staff members of diverse background
  • Learn and work comfortably with computer based petrophysical and geoscience oriented programs such as Interactive Petrophysics, Petra, ARCGIS, Geographix, Petrel, MIDAS
  • Ability to take instructions from petrophysical professionals and complete projects per the required criteria
  • Work to insure that staff members have the required products delivered on time in a complete and technically correct manner
  • Data Search/Research (TGS.com, File Room, Logging Companies)

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of related operational experience
  • AS Degree in Geology, Engineering or related field of study or equivalent experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Engineering is preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Petra, Geographic, Interactive Petrophysics and Petrel a plus.
  • Basic understanding of well logging and geologic principles
  • Strong skills with Excel is also desired
  • Some understanding of reservoir properties (PhiT, SW, Perm and Lithology) a plus
