    Job Overview:

    This position will assist in implementation of new accounting pronouncements, including leasing, as well as assist with various technical accounting issues such as researching technical issues, writing accounting policies, assisting in SEC filings and ensuring compliance with US GAAP, reviewing investor relations presentations, performing peer analysis and assisting with internal control documentation.  This position requires close interaction with multiple departments within the company and strong communication skills.   This position will report to the Manager of Accounting Policy and Controls.

    Key Duties/Responsibilities


    • Assist in implementation of new regulations and pronouncements, particularly ASC 842 leasing;
    • Research new accounting pronouncements and ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles in the United States (US GAAP);
    • Research and answer questions throughout the organization on the application and implementation of Apache’s policies;
    • Support the corporate accounting team in preparation of SEC filings and ensure compliance with US GAAP;
    • Review investor relations presentations to ensure compliance with SEC regulations and consistency with SEC filings;
    • Work with process owners to ensure Sarbanes Oxley 404 (SOX) documentation is current;
    • Interface frequently with both internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with US GAAP, appropriate application of accounting policies and assist in control documentation;
    • Assist with special projects, including acquisition and divestiture activity, as needed;
    • Assist with administration of Apache’s financial authority management system

    Job Qualifications


    Education/Experience/Qualifications required include:

    • Undergraduate degree with 3-5+ years accounting experience in the oil & gas industry
    • Proficient Microsoft Excel & Word skills
    • Solid communication skills
    • Must be organized and work well in a team environment
    • Good business judgment in handling potentially sensitive financial issues


    Desirable Criteria/Qualifications include:

    • Advanced Degree
    • CPA
    • Accounting Experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm
    • SEC Reporting Experience
    • Knowledge of SAP and/or HFM
    • Experience with Wdesk/Workiva
    • Strong US GAAP technical accounting skills
