Key Duties/Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Production Engineering Advisor / Senior Advisor role functions as a Subject Matter Expert in the areas of production engineering, technology, optimization and operations. The role provides technical support to Apache’s Domestic and International operations with a focus on increasing production efficiencies. This role also serves as the Production Network leader which promotes knowledge sharing and collaboration across the company, between disciplines and across Regions. The Advisor role is charged with identifying key technologies that will advance Apache’s aim of being the premier exploration and production company with global assets focused on North American growth.

Job Qualifications

TECHNICAL/OPERATIONAL SKILLS:

 

Ideal candidate will have the following skills (including but not limited to):

 

Production Operations background.  Knowledge and/or experience with the following:

  • Production system operations and process flow
  • Automation, Controls and Measurement
  • Data Acquisition, Production data systems (e.g. Avocet) and Production Allocation
  • Understanding of Production Chemistry and related issues
  • Troubleshooting problem wells
  • Identification of workover candidates
  • Equipment failure analysis and improvement methods
  • Well Integrity monitoring and troubleshooting

High level of knowledge and experience with all types of well and artificial lift types (ESP, rod pump, gas lift, plunger lift and flowing);

 

Expertise in analyzing production and injection well performance and skillful in modeling well performance using industry standard tools (e.g. Petroleum Experts suite);

 

Skillful at designing and using analytical data platforms such as Spotfire. Understands the fundamentals of data architecture to enable data analytics (i.e. ability to communicate and understand data and data architecture requirements);

 

Knowledge and experience with automation and automated data acquisition systems (i.e. Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA));

 

Completions/frac experience.  General design and diagnosis; and

 

Workover knowledge.  Including CTU, wireline, slickline, rig, and snubbing.

 

Working knowledge of the following software suites:

  • WellView
  • Avocet
  • Petroleum Experts (Prosper/GAP)
  • Cerberus
  • OFM

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Strong networking skills and proven ability to influence others
  • Self-starter who does not require significant guidance to drive projects forward
  • Forward thinker who can foresee the potential upside as well as downside in a situation or with a particular project
  • Open minded and willingness to hear the ideas and opinions of others

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/MS/Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience

TRAVEL:

 

Frequent domestic and some international travel will be required
