Key Duties/Responsibilities

Nature of Work

The HRIS Analyst is a data management specialist who reports to the HRIS Supervisor and is responsible for the following:

  • Supporting the processing of employee information for human resources (HR) functions, including payroll, compensation, and benefits;
  • Conducting high-level needs analyses;
  • Documenting and communicating clients’ business requirements to HRIT for development, and testing the configuration, workflows, and resulting solutions returned to the business; and
  • Supporting clients to ensure the ongoing operations and maintenance of HR systems and various interfaces to other systems.

Typical Responsibilities 

The HRIS Analyst’s duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting HR, including payroll, compensation, and benefits clients, by partnering with them to find solutions to new business needs, make improvements to existing processes, and translate this information into technical specifications for IT development and/or configuration;
  • Serving as the SuccessFactors SME, including assisting with implementation processes and standards for SuccessFactors and identifying opportunities for improvement and customization needs;
  • Analyzing HR systems by researching and identifying root causes of data problems for accurate ongoing administration of HR systems and reports;
  • Periodically auditing HRIS data to ensure conformance with company policies as well as internal work requirements;
  • Participating in optimizing system configuration for maximum data and user efficiency, including establishing links between HRIS data and other systems;
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and administration of global compensation programs (base salary, short-term incentives and long-term incentives), and developing processes to ensure smooth and timely implementation; and
  • Developing and preparing statistical summaries and reports from SAP and other HR systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate will possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Advanced analytical ability to review data and see relationships and patterns;
  • Thorough knowledge of HRIS and database systems;
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint);
  • Knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and procedures;
  • Skill in manipulating data in Excel and Access;
  • Ability to understand HR’s needs and translate requirements into IT solutions;
  • Ability to perform calculations accurately, efficiently, and under the press of deadlines;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing at all levels of the organization;
  • Strong aptitude for teamwork;
  • Organizational skills; and
  • Resolute values, ethics, honesty, integrity, and professionalism.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS (or a related field) or equivalent experience;
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience, including a minimum of 2 years in HR, working with HRIS and related systems, including a strong background with Microsoft Office applications;
  • Experience with SAP HCM modules, including OM, PA, ESS, and MSS;
  • Experience with SuccessFactors modules, including Compensation, Learning, Performance Management, and Succession and Development; and
  • Experience troubleshooting SuccessFactors issues post-implementation (preferred).
