Key Duties/Responsibilities

This position is responsible for generating drillable prospects, supporting development/appraisal projects, operations support and evaluating outside deals across the Permian Basin. Sound working knowledge relating to petroleum systems and subsurface risk assessment, drilling & completions techniques with advanced knowledge of rock physics, quantitative interpretation, seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy and depth conversion is needed. May have responsibility for whole projects or complex geophysical assignments involving problem diagnosis and/or development of innovative technical solutions. Works under limited supervision.

 

 

Job Qualifications

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

 

EDUCATION:  

 

  • BS in Geophysics or related discipline
  • Advanced degree preferred
     

EXPERIENCE:  

 

  • 8 to 15 years of relevant E&P company experience
     

PRIMARY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES (TECHNICAL & LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES):

 

 

  • Advanced level of geophysical expertise
  • Good level of geological expertise with shale plays and carbonate reservoirs
  • Strong communication and organizational skills - able to work well with geoscience team, peers, management and stakeholders
  • Able to prioritize multiple projects
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Capability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong personal computer skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
